On April 9, 2016, a handful of megastars came together during the 22nd annual Celebrity Fight Night — a star-packed charity event, which helps to benefit the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at the Barrow Neurological institute.
Headlining for that event was none other than country music hit-maker Carrie Underwood.
Carrie capped off the black-tie affair with a string of hits, including “Good Girl,” “Cowboy Casanova,” “Undo It,” “Blown Away,” “Jesus Take The Wheel” and “How Great Thou Art.”
In the clip above, the blonde bombshell stuns on a gorgeous blue-lit stage at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix. Belting out the words to “Blown Away,” she literally gave us chills.
But aside from Carrie’s epic performance and the lengthy list of heavy hitters — which included long-time host, Reba McEntire and country duo Brooks & Dunn — the real star that night was Muhammad Ali himself. The legendary boxing champion attended that Celebrity Fight Night, but had not been able to attend the two years prior. So, it was an honor for all the stars that had the chance to share that evening with him.
Since the ‘80s, Muhammad had been battling Parkinson’s disease, and due to the progression of the illness, he landed in the hospital with a respiratory issue.
He died on June 3, 2016 at the age of 74.
