As Christmas draws near, many country music artists have already gotten into the holiday spirit with Christmas tours and new holiday tunes. Take, for example LeAnn Rimes, who is currently in the midst of her 2017 “This Is Christmas Tour.” Then you have Blake Shelton and his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, who recently dropped their co-penned yuletide duet titled, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.” Alabama released a new album, “American Christmas,” in November. And Reba McEntire, re-released her album, “My Kind Of Christmas” on Oct. 13.
Now, it sounds like country singer and “American Idol” alum Scotty McCreery has also been feeling the joy of the holiday season. And, while — this year — he hasn’t put out a full holiday album or gone on a Christmas-themed tour like some of his cohorts, he did something else. He went and recorded a narrative of the classic story, “A Visit From St. Nicholas” — more commonly know by its first line, “Twas the Night Before Christmas” — as a free early Christmas gift for his fans.
And boy, does he sound amazing on the recording!
On Dec. 13, Scotty shared the story link with fans on his Facebook page, and included the caption, “I’m feeling jolly and full of the Christmas spirit today, so thought I’d share with you my reading of ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas.’ Check it out.”
Once you take a listen to the fresh reading of popular poem written in the 1800s, you’ll immediately notice Scotty’s deep, warm, signature southern voice.
“When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter,” he pleasantly reads aloud. “Away to the window I flew like a flash, tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.”
He later closes out the story with the uber famous line, “Happy Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight!”
Speaking of Christmas, it certainly must feel like the joyful holiday came early for Scotty this year. Not only did he recently share that he got engaged to his beautiful, longtime girlfriend Gabi Dugal, but he also has new music coming out in the near future as part os how brand-new record deal.
“Third time listening thru my new record on this 4.5 hour flight home. I’m so fired up for y’all to hear this thing,” he told fans in a tweet on Dec. 9.
Now that’s exciting!
And, while there is no release date yet for the album, fans can certainly see Scotty out on the road, as he has plenty of shows coming up. His next two stops include York, Pennsylvania, on Dec. 16, and Rocky Mount, Virginia, on Dec. 17. Be sure to visit Scotty’s official website for more tour dates and info.
