There’s no doubt that every country artist dreams of headlining their own shows in arenas and stadiums, but until that happens, opening for a country music superstar like George, Reba or Garth in arenas and stadiums is the next best thing. Fortunately for Scotty McCreery, he just got to do that. Over the weekend, Scotty was the surprise opening act for one of his own heroes, Garth Brooks.

Obviously, it was a big moment for the North Carolina boy who recently signed a new record deal, and he made sure everyone could share his excitement via social media. Scotty grabbed photos with the G-man at soundcheck prior to the show and then again after they were in their stage attire, then posted them on his Instagram writing, “I opened up for @GarthBrooks tonight. Garth freakin’ Brooks!”

That pretty much sums up how anyone would feel, right?

Except for Scotty’s girlfriend, Gabi Dugal, who found her own sweet words to share how proud she is of her man. Gabby shared a video clip of her boyfriend beaming from the stage and wrote, “When bae opens up for THE Garth Brooks!!!!! 😱😍😘❤️.”

Oh wait, there was one more person who was feeling pretty good about Scotty opening the show in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It was Garth himself, and he had a clever reply for his new friend after he saw his post, referencing the title of Scotty’s current single. “So great having you out! I could have listened to you all night long … or at least for #FiveMoreMinutes! love, g,” Garth replied.

Congratulations to Scotty on the landmark event. Now, we aren’t positive, but we think his next milestone might be the release of a new album, which we hear he is busy working on.

But first … a nap.
