One of the best parts of being in Nashville is that you never know who will show up in a writer’s room and end up penning a big country hit. And occasionally, some of those unexpected writers hang out for long enough to become a friend to the whole format. You know, like Meghan Trainor.
You may or may not know that Meghan is part of the songwriting teams behind hits like Lauren Alaina’s “Road Less Traveled” and Rascal Flatts’ “I Like the Sound of That.” She also took part in CMT’s Artist of the Year tribute to Shania Twain, performing a medley of the icon’s hits with Kelsea Ballerini and Jill Scott, and she recorded the No. 1 adult contemporary hit, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” with rising country star Brett Eldredge for his 2016 Christmas album, “Glow.” And it was an absolute ball when she joined her country sister, Miranda Lambert, at the 2014 CMA Awards for a twangified version of “All About That Bass.” It’s still an all-time favorite CMA performance around here.
So that’s why we’re tickled to share and celebrate the big news that Meghan’s boyfriend, Daryl Sabara, has popped the question.
The pretty blonde posted a video set to her song “Hopeless Romantic” on her Instagram page that shares the very merry moment. Backlit in a canopy of what seems to be a gazillion Christmas lights, Daryl literally gets down on one knee to propose to Meghan, who appears to burst into tears before embracing her handsome future hubs.
In fact, she writes, “I SAID YESSSS!!!! For my 24th birthday, the love of my life @darylsabara made all of my dreams come true. He proposed to me under a tunnel of beautiful Christmas lights and surprised me with my family and friends. I’m still in shock. I’ve never been this happy! Thank you Daryl, my family and friends for making me feel like a real princess 👸🏼💍😭💗 and thank you @ryan.trainor for this amazing video that I’m gonna watch over and over again.”
Meghan also shared a photo album on her Instagram page that chronicles the relationship of the pair, who have been together for over a year.
Of course, Meghan has made her own mark in the pop music world with two platinum studio albums and a mantle full of awards, but she’s also left a lasting impression on Music City.
And for that, we say, “Congratulations, y’all!”
