Kid Rock’s specialty is the summer anthem, and this iconic song is one of his best.
Fusing original lyrics with memorable riffs from classic rock songs like “Werewolves of London” and “Sweet Home Alabama,” Kid Rock’s “All Summer Long” has become a mandatory summertime song for Memorial Day, Fourth of July or any other day that requires beaches and barbecues.
While many musicians sample melodies and try to pass them off as their own, that’s not Kid Rock. He knows full well this is a collaboration, so much so that he split the credit and publishing for the song three equal ways between himself, Lynyrd Skynryd and Warren Zevon’s estate.
As for the video, even though it was shot on Old Hickory Lake in Nashville, Kid Rock claims to have had nothing to do with bikini clad lovelies included in the shoot.
“I’ve never gotten into that. People think I’m out getting hos for the videos, that I’m one of those guys who hangs around like, ‘Hey, you want to be in my video?’ he told NOLA.com. “I don’t think I’ve ever said that in my life.”
