Blake Shelton might not be what you would call “the romantic type.”
But heck, he got Miranda Lambert so he must be doing something right.
But on his recent “Lonely Tonight,” Shelton showed off a bit of his inner heartstrings by joining voices with his wife’s bestie Ashley Monroe in a performance that created fireworks on stage at the 2014 CMA Awards.
While Monroe offered the sweetness in the duet that took the two to the top of the charts, she now looks to go back on her own as she readies to release her forthcoming album “The Blade.”
And like she sung with Shelton, once again she sings about a broken relationship on the title track.
“‘The Blade’ is such a special song to me,” Monroe recently told People Magazine.
“I have been on the receiving end of that pain. It actually makes me physically hurt when I sing it,” she continued. “And when I recorded it for sure, but in a good way. I’m so thankful to the writers of that song. They talked about my heartbreak in a way that I’ve never heard. That’s hard to do I think every song on this record has an edge of some sort. It cuts. That’s why I thought ‘The Blade’ was a perfect title.”
