Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s chemistry is undeniable when you see the two of them together at awards shows. Just check them out talking to “People” on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards Sunday night, Jan. 21. Nicole took home her first trophy from that organization for her role in the HBO limited series, “Big Little Lies.” Keith was clearly proud to be by her side for the event.
When asked what it was like to walk “this vision” down the red carpet, Keith said, “It’s fun. It’s a beautiful evening. I’m really proud of Nic and proud of the work that all the girls have done.”
Keith is, of course, referring to Nicole’s co-stars in “Big Little Lies,” including Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern.
“Big Little Lies” will be coming back for a second season, and Nicole has the power to make things happen on that show since she’s also a producer. So, would we ever see Keith and Nicole bring their magnetic romance on camera?
Not so fast. Nicole isn’t sure Keith wants to go from supporting her in the audience at awards shows to actually being her co-star in a TV or film project.
She told reporters backstage after her SAG win, “Any chance I can, I will acknowledge what he does because he really is so kind, and I don’t think that having a cameo on one of my projects would interest him, to be honest. I sleep with him!”
Nicole is very grateful for all the support she receives from Keith in all of her artistic roles. She adds, “He’s my biggest supporter. I’m so fortunate to have such an incredible partner in life.”
Though we probably won’t see them acting together anytime soon, Keith and Nicole are singing together on his latest hit, “Female.” That’s Nicole adding her voice on background vocals, and it’s fitting that Keith invited the strong woman in his life to sing on a song celebrating female power and resilience.
Keith recently told reporters in Nashville, “I thought, this is one of the songs that would be great to have Nic come and sing on as well. Of all songs, it’s the right one. Because I have a studio at my house and we were working at home, I went upstairs — she was home — and I said, ‘Can you come down and sing these parts as well.’ So, she came down and sang.”
It turns out Keith is the only person who can convince Nicole to get behind the studio microphone that easily.
She recently told “Entertainment Tonight,” “I went down [to sing vocals] and I did it because he asked me to. He knows I have no confidence when it comes to singing. So I’ll sing for him and that’s it.”
“Female” is the lead single from Keith’s upcoming album, “Graffiti U,” due out in the coming months.
