“Nashville” fans around the world were sad to hear that ABC had canceled the show after four seasons, but the show’s producers aren’t quite ready to close the door on the Music City soap opera.

The move is hardly without precedent. “Nashville” star Connie Britton’s previous series, “Friday Night Lights,” was kept alive through a joint venture between DirecTV and NBC after NBC initially decided to pull the plug. “The Mindy Project” also made the move from FOX to streaming new episodes on Hulu.
