As NASCAR fans have gotten used to watching him trade paint and get dirty on the track, Jimmie Johnson is actually one classy fellow.
We mean, look at his house!
While calling North Carolina home, Jimmie and his family also have a place in the Big Apple, the interiors of which were recently shared in the pages of Architectural Digest.
“I was living in Manhattan when Jimmie and I met,” Jimmie’s wife Chandra tells the magazine. “Fortunately, he loves the city, too, so we’ve always had a place here. The West Village is heaven. It’s a really romantic neighborhood, and it feels the closest to living in Europe.”
The living space is filled to the brim with some fancy details, including “Charlotte Perriand stools, Jacques Quinet cocktail tables, lighting by Serge Mouille and Jacques Adnet, a Hans Wegner lounge chair, and an Edward Wormley sofa upholstered in yellow velvet.”
Certainly doesn’t sound like Richard Petty’s house. But don’t be fooled — Jimmie isn’t going to add the position of decorator to his resume anytime soon.
“Jimmie’s more interested in the bones of the space and how the layout works,” Chandra tells the magazine. “He’s not picking fabrics.”
