Keith Urban and Lauren Alaina turned up the heat when they shared the stage at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, Calif., on July 26.

The two teamed up for an electrifying performance of the Aussie’s 2013 collaboration song, “We Were Us,” which he sings with fellow country star Miranda Lambert in the recorded version.

Lauren has never performed the song with Keith. So, it made for an even bigger surprise when she stepped out to help him deliver the upbeat tune.

“We don’t get to do this song ever in our set, but I’ve heard Lauren sing it and I’m like, ‘You’ve got to come out and sing this song with me,’” Keith told the roaring crowd, as seen in the Instagram clip below. “So she said, ‘Ok, I’ll give it a shot.’”

Filling Miranda’s shoes for the night, Lauren took the first verse. She looked quite confident in her spunky pair of knee-high boots, and edgy vest with “Kiss” written on the back, while hitting all of the right notes. Meanwhile, Keith gave it his all on his electric guitar before blending his vocals together with his special guest.

There’s no doubt that the fans enjoyed performance. Heck, they loved the entire show — so much so that Keith took to Instagram to let them know their excitement didn’t go unnoticed.
