Miranda Lambert lets her inner rocker out at a surprise show in The Windy City

The average country music fan often wonders this — what do the big time superstars do with their time before a show, especially when they come into town three days early?

Well, for Miranda Lambert, she finds a bar to play at.

On June 4th, that lucky bar was Joe’s Bar in Chicago, with Lambert spending the day sharing some hints on social media that something big was about to happen in The Windy City days before she was set to play at Soldier Field alongside Kenny Chesney.

“We just got to Joe’s Bar in Chicago!” she tweeted. “My band/crew have a band of their own. Come see Permnent Damage.”

Yes, it’s purposely spelled wrong.

And then Lambert tweeted “Ok Chicago @gwensebastianand me are rehearsing for the Permnent Damage show tonight at Joes Bar. ‘Bang Bang Bang on the door baby … Knock a little louder sugar’ … #we’rewiththeband.”

According to, Lambert spent a good portion of the nearly three hour show “sitting on the stairs that lead to the stage, with a drink in her hand, just watching the band perform for much of the night.”
