To us, Luke Bryan is a big-time country music artist with a ton of hits and multiple entertainer of the year wins.
But to his two sons — Thomas Boyer, 8, and Tatum Christopher, 6, he’s just dad — of course, with a few extra friends that attend all of his shows!
In an interview with People, Luke talked about how his kids are handling his role in the limelight. And, it sounds like they’re pretty laid back about their daddy’s situation.
“It doesn’t faze them,” said Luke. “It’s all they’ve ever known. Ever since they’ve been born, I’ve been in this role as a country singer. They understand that their dad is a famous person and they understand that when we’re out in public some people are going to want to take pictures or get an autograph.”
Luke added, “I wouldn’t say it gives me any more cool points. As long as I can play with them in the yard or wrestle with them on the floor, that’s pretty much all they’re concerned with.”
Aside from raising his two children, Luke also takes care of his 14-year-old nephew, Til. However, don’t expect them to get in a heated wrestling match.
“Don’t wrestle a teen!” Luke joked. “He throws me around the house pretty good now! He’s taller than me now and he can chuck me around pretty easily.”
In addition to the rough play, Luke also bonds with his boys on the open roads. Heck, it’s a time when he’s able to get to know their interests and opinions.
“It’s fun having my boys at the age where if they’re in my truck I can play them a new song and see if they like it and see what they think about their dad’s newest songs,” said Luke.
Recently, Luke released a handful of tunes off his first “Farm Tour: Here’s to the Farmer” EP. The release coincides with the launch of his eighth annual Farm Tour 2016, which kicks off on Oct. 5 in Gaston, South Carolina. For a full list of dates, check out LukeBryan.com.
