There was a time when a man or woman’s word was their bond and a show of their character. But much like time, loyalty and integrity, a person’s word is becoming less and less valued. Luke Bryan’s wife, Caroline, doesn’t care though. She’s keeping her word to her baby niece, Sadie Brett.
Sadly, the little girl isn’t here to see it.
Earlier this year, Sadie Brett, the infant daughter of Caroline’s brother Bo Boyer and his wife Ellen, passed away at just seven months old from a congenital heart defect.
Brett’s passing obviously hit everyone in the Boyer and Bryan families hard, but it seems Caroline, who is happily surrounded by boys with Luke, sons Bo and Tate, and nephew Til, was looking forward to having a little pink bundle to spoil. So, she’s doing it anyway. And in the process, she’s making good on a promise she made to her little niece.
In a post on her Instagram page in late July, Caroline shared a picture of a barn and penned a letter to baby Brett explaining the photo. “When you were about a month old, I promised you a white pony! I found you one … along with some other adorable mini animals! Your mother and I hijacked one of your Uncle Luke’s barns and started having a little fun with it (thank you sweetie, Luke Bryan)! We still have a lot of work to do, but it’s coming together! ‘Brett’s Barn’ is officially in the works. This is all for you, Queen Bee. We love you to the moon and back.”
Included in their new menagerie is a goat named Goober Goldsby, who seems to consider himself more of a member of the family than any of the other animals.
But exactly how many animals are there? A bunch!
Luke shared a video on his Instagram page of his beautiful wife in knee-high Muck Boots as she goes through the chore of feeding their pen full of animals that also includes a pair of mini donkeys, a pair of mini horses, at least four goats, a few chickens and at least one dappled pig. “Greetings from #BrettsBarn,” he writes.
And it all makes so much sense. Luke and Caroline have always put family first, and in the wake of too many tragedies, why wouldn’t they stay true to Caroline’s word and remember sweet Sadie Brett with this precious promise?
