Little Big Town’s plans for the summer come to an abrupt halt

Little Big Town’s Jimi Westbrook has always been known to leave it all on the stage. And this clip from their “Front and Center” performance is the perfect example.

Unfortunately, that unabashed enthusiasm can often lead to vocal problems — even for the most careful of singers — which looks to be the case for Westbrook. After a week of appearances, performances and talking, Westbrook and LBT band mates Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman and Phillip Sweet announced June 17 that Westbrook and the band would have to take an extended break from their regularly scheduled summer tour dates.

“With heavy hearts we want to let you guys know that Jimi will have to undergo surgery next week to remove a polyp on his vocal cord,” Little Big Town posted on their Facebook page. “As a result, doctors have ordered him to rest his voice and completely recuperate before we continue touring. All shows through July 30th will be cancelled or rescheduled. It breaks our hearts to let you guys down, but Jimi’s health is the most important thing and he is expected to make a full recovery with rest and treatment. We will keep everyone updated on Jimi’s progress. Thanks for your understanding and support. – K,K,J & P.”

We join Little Big Town in sending our prayers to Westbrook for a complete recovery.
