Before Joey Feek’s untimely death back in March of 2016, she joined her husband Rory in a special concert that featured the songs that would be included on their album “Hymns That Are Important to Us.”

One of those hymns was “I Surrender All.”

Little did Rory know how he would hang onto those words in the months ahead of them. And to this day, it remains the song that Rory is clinging to as him and daughter Indiana learn to live without the love of their lives.

“At night when Indy is getting ready for bed, we put her pajamas on and she sits in my lap and she will always do the same thing and sign the song she wants me to sing to her,” Rory told WTHR-TV in a recent interview. “I’ll ask her which one and she will name a few songs, but most of the time I sing ‘I Surrender All.’ Joey had specific songs that she would sing in the garden like ‘Amazing Grace,’ but mine is ‘I Surrender All.’”

It’s these songs that seem to help and continue to infuse music into their lives during a time where Rory says he can’t imagine writing or singing songs without his dear Joey by his side.

It’s also one of the many songs that served as an emotional backdrop in the movie “To Joey With Love,” which will run again in theaters across the country on Oct. 6.
