Our affection for Kelly Clarkson is no secret, and it seems that a lot of y’all agree with that she’s just an all-around awesome person. Her connections to country music, from her marriage to Blake Shelton’s manager — which also made her Reba McEntire’s daughter-in-law — to her duet with Jason Aldean, “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” to her Nashville address and her friendships with all of the country stars have made her a vital part of our world. And come on! She can sing like a bird.
She can even sing like a bird backward.
Kelly visited with Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show” Nov. 1 and, in typical fashion, Jimmy had a little challenge in store. He invited the Texas cutie to sing one of her biggest hits, “Since U Been Gone,” backward.
And, of course, she nailed it.
Kelly also had a chance to talk about being a part of “The Voice” with her pal Blake. And after some good-natured ribbing, she paid the country star some hefty compliments. “He’s just a remarkable coach, and the thing I love about him is that he does see through the artist. He sets them up, helps them get record deals, helps them afterward,” she said. But she also noted to potential future contestants, “Pick me, not him.”
And while all of the coaches who will appear on season 14 with Kelly — Blake, Adam Levine and Alicia Keys — like to remind her that they have each won a season of “The Voice,” Kelly reminds her competitors that she has, in fact, also won a show—“American Idol.”
