Sure, every patriotic American’s heart swells at the sound of the “Star Spangled Banner.”
But when Tegan Marie steps onto an arena floor to audition for a performance of the national anthem, our country hearts are pushed to the limits.
The talented tween, who was just 11 years old at the time this video was shot, fills the entire arena with her big voice, much bigger than you would expect from her petite frame. While we can’t see her face in this video, the exuberant applause from the judges tells us all we need to know.
According to Tegan’s Facebook page, she began singing at the age of 3, so it’s safe to say she has performed the national anthem more than once. However, she’s performing her own music now, including her latest single, “Lucky Me,” as the opening act for artists like Hunter Hayes, Cassadee Pope and Granger Smith, and she even performed during CMA Music Fest with Radio Disney. In the Faebook video below, you can catch Tegan in action opening for Hunter back in May.
