When you boil it down, Charlie Daniels is rooted in two core things: God and this great nation.
On May 3 when Christian evangelist and missionary Franklin Graham stopped in Nashville for his Decision America Tour, Charlie joined him onstage at the political yet Christian-themed rally. Jammed shoulder to shoulder as far as the evangelist’s eye could see, Charlie and Christian singer Michael W. Smith led the throng of more than 8,000 supporters in a beautiful rendition of “Amazing Grace.”
Instead of campaigning for Hillary, Trump, Bernie or any other individual politician, Franklin was thumping for a higher power merely encouraging Christians to exercise their right to vote. In fact, the only candidate he endorsed that day was God.
“I don’t have any trust in the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, and I’m not doing this for any political reasons,” Franklin told Nashville’s News Channel 5. “I’m doing this to try and get God in the process, and I want to get God back in the political process in this country.”
Franklin is on a nationwide tour that includes all 50 states to challenge Christians to live out their faith at home, in public and at the ballot box.
