Listen as a 15-year-old “American Idol” finalist masters a Rascal Flatts power ballad YouTube

At just 15 years old, “American Idol” finalist Tristan McIntosh has led quite a life. Growing up in a single-parent household, Tristan has already had to grapple with her mother serving in the military and often being deployed overseas.

So, it should come as no surprise that the country beauty was able to pack a whole lot of emotion into her rendition of Rascal Flatts’ “What Hurts The Most” on the Feb. 24 episode.

After the performance, judges Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban were both over the moon about her performance.

“First of all, let me say that was a beautiful song choice in the way it fit your voice and the way you did it,” Keith said. “I really felt like we saw and heard a side of you we haven’t seen yet. It was beautiful. Great job.”

It’s not the first time that Tristan has seen success with a country cover. During her audition, she sang “Why Baby Why” by Mickey Guyton for her ticket to Hollywood, and on the Feb. 17 episode, she covered Carrie Underwood’s mega-hit “Good Girl.”

She’s one to watch — that’s for darn sure.
