If you’re like many of our great country stars, you grew up going to church every Sunday and sometimes on Wednesday, too, and one of our favorite parts of the church service was cracking open that hymnal and singing those songs you now know by heart. Songs like “Amazing Grace,” “I’ll Fly Away” and “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder,” somehow set us in the right frame of mind to hear the pastor’s weekly message.

This week, we’ve picked five of our favorite classic hymns to enjoy while you get yourself ready for church. We’re also highlighting a new, original hymn from Blake Shelton that feels destined to become a new tradition.

1. Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill – “How Great Thou Art”

Always majestic, this one brings tears to our eyes. Even Carrie admitted it was difficult to make it through this performance.

2. Alan Jackson – “In The Garden”

Alan enjoys church music so much, he made a whole album of it titled “Precious Memories” for his mama, but this one is so sweet.

3. Blake Shelton – “Savior’s Shadow”

For all of the zany things we know Blake for, he’s also an outstanding singer, songwriter and, obviously, quite spiritual.

4. Joey+Rory – “It Is Well With My Soul”

These are the voices you want to hear ringing out on a Sunday morning with this soothing song sure to bring you peace.

5. Dolly Parton and family – “Sweet By and By”

Truly the voice of an angel, Dolly gets some help from her siblings for a heavenly version of this country classic.
