Tim McGraw has done it. Reba McEntire has done it. Dwight Yoakam has done it. Toby Keith even did it a couple of times. Heck, even George Strait and Carrie Underwood have done it. They’ve all tried their hands at acting in movies and, can we say, they’ve all done fine jobs with their sometimes large and sometimes small roles. Reba’s part in the cult classic “Tremors” is iconic and ladies, admit it, who doesn’t get a little weak in the knees at the sight of George with half a beard as “Dusty” in “Pure Country”?

Now, it’s time to give that little sugar dumplin’ from Georgia a turn at the movie-making wheel. Lauren Alaina has just been cast in her first film role, but it gets even better!

The movie is based on her current single, “Road Less Traveled,” which was co-written with Meghan Trainor and Jesse Frasure. Billboard reports that Lauren plays the part of Charlotte, a young girl from Harmony, Tennessee living in L.A. and preparing to tie the knot. She returns to Harmony where she runs into her high school sweetheart and, well, you’ll have to see the movie. Co-starring with Lauren is Charlene Tilton who played Lucy in the long-running hit TV series “Dallas.”

Lauren tells Billboard, “I am so excited to be doing a movie. This is a whole new world for me. I’m learning so much every day. We have such an awesome coast and crew, and I can’t wait for everyone to see this new side of me.”

Shot in East Tennessee, Lauren has been hinting at the location and vibe of the movie on her socials for a few weeks now. No other details around the plot or release dates are available yet, but we’re looking forward to seeing this flick from one of our favorite country starlets!
