There?s a saying that says ?Be kind for everyone you know is fighting a battle you know nothing about.? That saying could not be more true for country sweetheart Lauren Alaina.

An absolutely beautiful young woman who can sing her heart out, Lauren finished in second place on “American Idol” and has since been working on building a budding music career. Who wouldn?t want to be her?

While life is great for Lauren these days, she had to overcome a years-long battle with bulimia to get where she is today.

Thrust into the national spotlight while she was just a teenager, once her time on “Idol” was over, the young songbird found herself feeling the pressure to not only sing a certain way to get her career on track, but also to look a certain way as well.

“I just desperately wanted to be thin,” she told Motto. “That’s all I thought. I was obsessed with it, which it was ridiculous because I had everything going for me. I had bulimia for a few years. I was really sick. I don’t know that person. I can’t believe that was me.”

Thankfully, Lauren credits her mom for stepping in and helping her rediscover the strong woman she is and to see for herself that she?s perfect just the way she is.
