As the always outspoken Kid Rock stepped upon the stage at Van Andel Arena on Sept. 6 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, there was a good chance that he would somehow find a way to slip his political thoughts into his live show.
And he did just that.
As controversy swirls around the artist regarding his possible bid for the U.S. Senate, the native Detroit rocker stood strong and shocked fans with a three-minute political rant that covered everything from “dead-beat dads” to welfare and “wannabe gangsters.” Reports say he was introduced to the crowd amid the familiar melody of “Hail to the Chief” and as the “next senator of Michigan,” before delivering his speech at a political-style podium complete with a seal.
“If you want to take a knee or sit during our ‘Star-Spangled Banner,’ call me a racist ’cause I’m not P.C. and think you have to remind me that black lives matter. Nazis, fucking bigots and now, again, the KKK, screw all you assholes, stay the fuck away,” he said during a portion of his rant.
And yes, the crowd went wild.
