Country music legend Kenny Rogers shocked fans in an interview when he gave a soft endorsement of Donald Trump.
“I really like him,” said the country music icon of Trump in an interview with The Guardian. “I think his problem is that he says what everyone wants to hear but he doesn’t say it well. I love what he says, I have to admit.”
While he did stop short of saying Trump would be the candidate he would vote for, Rogers did suggest that he does have faith in his abilities to lead the country.
“He can be President and not owe anybody anything,” Rogers continued. “He’s one of the few people that has the money to do it, and he has the guts to do it. You’re biting off a lot by doing that. He believes what he says: whether he’s right or not, he says what everybody fears.”
Not everyone in the Rogers household is on the Trump train however. The legendary country singer reveals his older sons are firmly entrenched in the Clinton camp.
“My older sons laugh at me when I tell them that,” he says. “They are Democrats that live in California, there’s no hope for them. They’ll vote for Hillary no matter what she does. She’s a friend of mine, I’m not trashing her.”
