Perhaps 2016 has been the year of country/pop star collaborations.
Take for example, Keith Urban and Pitbull, Brad Paisley and Demi Lovato, and Jennifer Nettles and Jennifer Lopez.
Now, you can add country music hotshot Kenny Chesney and pop icon Pink to that list. And, it’s clear these two stars have teamed up for one good reason!
On Thursday, July 28, country music’s newest collaborators released their brand-new duet titled “Setting the World on Fire” to country radio.
The song, which follows Kenny’s single “Noise,” comes off of the country crooner’s upcoming album “Cosmic Hallelujah” — formerly known as “Some Town Somewhere.” Due to the anticipated duet, the album was pushed back from it’s July 8 release date. Now, “Cosmic Hallelujah” will hit shelves on Oct. 28.
“You can’t conjure a song that captures that feeling of being on the brink like this does,” Kenny recently stated in a press release. “The lyrics are a perfect way of saying it, but when you feel that melody rise, the arrangement picking up momentum — it’s bigger than you are, and all you want to do is throw yourself against the night. Then when Pink comes in, well, that just brings this [song] to life.”
“Setting the World on Fire,” penned by lauded writers Ross Copperman, Matt Jenkins and Josh Osborne, is sure to take the world by storm. Previously, Kenny has described the track as a song that “captures that feeling of being on the brink [of falling in love].”
The chorus of the song says, “Up all night and we were feelin’ so good / Yeah, we got a little higher than we probably should / We were in a hotel singin’ in the hallway lights / We were strikin’ the matches right down to the ashes / Setting the world on fire / Setting the world on fire.”
“I like the idea of P!NK with her voice that is so strong and contains so many colors,” said Kenny in Facebook post, “she really makes that idea of giving into your heart, shouting out the window and whirling around in the middle of an abandoned street feel real.”
JULY 28. 5PM ET. "Setting The World On Fire" with P!nk hits radio. To me, great songs are great songs regardless of…
