Keith Urban may have been skeptical but this American Idol hopeful just blew away the judges strumming a Little Big Town cover

Singer/musician Alexis Gomez might not look the part of your All-American country music artist. Yet, one listen to the blonde bombshell’s vocals just might convince you that she just might have the makings of a superstar.

Too bad Keith Urban wasn’t convinced. Thank goodness fellow American Idol judges Harry Connick Jr. and Jennifer Lopez were.

During American Idol auditions in Kansas City, Gomez seemed to stand out of the pack with her midriff exposing shirt and see through skirt. And then there were those three braids falling from the side of her head. Yet, her appearance took a back seat to her performance of Little Big Town’s 2010 top 10 hit “Little White Church”.

“I have never claimed to be a country girl,” explained Lopez during the January 14th American Idol telecast. “I don’t ride horses or do that kind of thing. I mean, just because you are country doesn’t mean that you have to wear boots all the time…even though I love boots.”

Gomez looks to join a number of other country music hopefuls on the music variety show that have already earned the coveted golden ticket so far this season.
