It seems like country music and acting go way back. More than eight decades ago, the late Jimmy Rodgers, also known as the “Father of Country Music,” starred in “The Singing Brakeman.” Since then, many other country music artists have followed suit. And while some movies ended up as box office flops and others turn into huge hits, we still think it’s impressive that these five country stars turned actors tested out their luck on the silver screen.

Willie had some pretty eclectic taste when it came to starring in films. Some of his gigs include “The Electric Horseman,” “Stagecoach” and “Dukes of Hazzard.”

Tim may have played a meathead brother in “Four Christmases,” but has since played more meatier roles in movies like “The Blind Side,” “Friday Night Lights” and most recently “Tomorrowland.”

Dolly is quite a character, so it’s no surprise to us that she’s done a whole bunch of acting. Some of the bubbly blonde’s work includes “9-5”, “Rhinestone” and “Steel Magnolia.”

Everyone knows that Carrie sang her way to the top of “American Idol,” but her career didn’t stop there. In 2013 she starred in Broadway classic, “The Sound of Music.” She also starred in the movie “Soul Surfer.”

If anyone is close to a triple threat, it is Reba. Not only did she played “Reba” in, well the television series “Reba,” she also acted in the film “Tremors.” And heck, that’s not all. The icon even played the voice of Betsy the Cow in “Charlotte’s Web.”
