Joey+Rory share one last farewell video of a life taken far too soon vimeo

It was a day that Joey+Rory fans have thought about since news came of the untimely death of dear Joey Feek.

How in the world could we say goodbye?

In recent months, the story of her cancer journey has made us all feel like we knew and loved Joey, whether we had ever met her or not. Somehow, her story hit us in the hearts and her music carried us through, and just when we felt we were getting to know her, she was gone.

And that’s what made Tuesday’s goodbye even harder.

“On Tuesday we laid my beautiful wife to rest,” Rory wrote in yet another blog post on March 13. “In a grove of sassafras trees behind our farmhouse, with friends and family gathered around, we said goodbye to the greatest person I have ever known.”

And as one might expect, Joey’s goodbye included yet another tearjerker of a video, chronicling the beautiful life taken far too soon.

“And when my time was through and I thought I couldn’t cry anymore tears… they played a video celebrating Joey’s life that our friends Daniel and Gabe made. And my tears were replaced by smiles and laughter and joy and more tears. It was so beautiful, set to the song “After You’re Gone” by Iris Dement… a song that Joey loved and requested be played at her service.”

Watch and listen, and take a moment to say goodbye.
