Jennifer Nettles had a feeling she was part of something special when she was filming her role in Dolly Parton’s TV movie, “Coat of Many Colors.” But she had no idea the project would strike a chord with viewers and bring in crazy ratings to boot.
Jennifer tells Rare Country, “You think something is special when you’re involved in it if you’re feeling that way, but you never know until it gets out there. OK, are other people going to think this is special? The response to it was so fantastic. It went crazy and broke records and all kinds of stuff.”
From the time she accepted the role of Dolly’s mother in the film, Jennifer was in awe of the country superstar.
“Just getting to work with her and be a part of telling that part of her story was an honor for me,” Jennifer says. “The fact that it did as well it did blew my mind.”
Dolly is getting the Tex Ritter Award at the ACM Awards this year to honor the success of “Coat of Many Colors.”
As for Jennifer, she’s excited to explore some of the acting opportunities coming her way after her role in the movie.
“I’ve been sniffing around,” Jennifer says. “I’m done with this tour in June, so hopefully by late summer and into the fall I’m going to see what’s in film and TV land.”
You can catch Jennifer doing another impressive acting job in her new video for “Unlove You,” out now.
