The dancers on the Oct. 31 episode of “Dancing With the Stars” pulled out all the tricks, and viewers got a real treat on a special night of Halloween-themed dances. Each couple was required to perform two dances, with their first routine giving them an opportunity to insure immunity from elimination later in the show.

No pressure, right?

Fortunately for Jana Kramer fans, the effervescent actress and singer embraced the challenge with the same enthusiasm she’s had for the entire competition. Even though her professional partner, Gleb Savechenko, admitted he had never choreographed a jazz number, they presented an energetic and near perfect routine to “Little Shop of Horrors.”

So, when you reach a higher level of ability and skill, the judge’s tend to judge a bit harder. Their expectations are higher, and their critiques are specific. Apparently Jana has reached that skill level, because while the judges had very definite opinions on the country singer’s jazz dance, they also gave her higher scores than Jana expected. In fact, out of a perfect 30, the petite beauty landed a respectable 27, receiving nines from all three judges for her fun routine.

But the night was far from over. Three couples received perfect scores, thus gaining immunity from elimination. The six couples who didn’t receive perfect scores during the evening’s performances were put in the position of having to select their opponents and then select another dance. They then went face-to-face in a dance-off. Since Jana and Gleb scored high enough, they were able to choose second. Jana picked Terra Jolie and Sasha Farber for their competitors, and Terra selected the salsa for the dance.

Both couples were equally amazing with even the judges commenting that their specific face-off was very tight, but in the end, they chose Jana and Gleb, and so did the viewers at home. However, having found herself in the bottom two in previous weeks, the singer was obviously anxious as the safe dancers were announced.

She made it! Whew!

And this was just the beginning of a whirlwind week for Jana, who is expected in Nashville for The 50th Annual CMA Awards on Nov. 2.
