Ask any mother or father and they will tell you that no parent would ever want to have to bury their own child. It’s one of the worst fears that a parent can have, because grieving the loss of a son or daughter is one of the hardest things that a person can do. The unfortunate circumstance often comes without warning, changing a parent’s life forever.
And that was almost the case for Jamie Lynn Spears.
The 26-year-old mother and country music singer almost lost her daughter last year to an ATV accident. If you recall, young Maddie Aldridge was riding around on an ATV outside the family’s Kentwood, Louisiana, property on Feb. 5, 2017, when she swerved to avoid a drainage ditch and accidentally flipped into a pond. The sudden flip trapped Maddie underwater for several minutes before paramedics arrived to the scene.
Now that it’s been a year since that near-fatal ATV accident, Jamie wants fans to know that she hasn’t forgotten those who prayed for Maddie’s survival. So she took to Instagram to express gratitude for all of the love that she received during such a troubling time, and to also commemorate the miracle of her daughter’s immense recovery.
“[One] year Miracle Anniversary,” the thankful mother captioned on Instagram, alongside an old photo that shows her daughter in a hospital bed. “THANK Y’ALL for your prayers during that time, and THANK YOU GOD for my beautiful family🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻.”
Maddie, who was only 8 years old when she nearly lost her life to the ATV crash, remained unconscious for multiple days while in the hospital. On Feb. 10, she was released from the hospital and has since made a full recovery.
These days, it’s clear to see that Maddie is so happy and enjoying life just like any normal adolescent. The now 9-year-old looks so full of life in photos posted to her mother’s Instagram page. You can see some of those snapshots below!
On a side note, little Maddie is also preparing to become a big sister, as Jamie Lynn is expecting her second child. The soon-to-be baby will be Jamie Lynn’s first with her husband, Jamie Watson. The two announced their pregnancy with post on Instagram on Christmas Eve.
Looks like we are starting off 2018 with another big milestone…sooo happy to announce that Maddie is FINALLY going to be a big sister👶🏼2017 was filled with some of the biggest challenges of my life, as well as some of the biggest blessings, so I made a choice to lay low this year to focus on truly becoming my best self as a person and as an artist. During that time, I continued working on my music and telling my story, which has created some of my most honest work and I CANT wait to share that with you all very soon. 2018 is going to be filled with many milestones both personally and professionally. I appreciate each of you for your patience and support through it all. 2018 has a lot coming, so GET READY…….. #12DaysofJLS
