Granger Smith is resting and recuperating at home in Texas following that scary stage fall that left him with broken ribs and a punctured and partially collapsed lung. The only problem is, he may not get very much rest at home.

Granger and his wife, Amber, have three kids under the age of 5. Their newest addition, a boy named River Kelly Smith, just arrived this past May, so there’s always a lot of noise and activity going on at the Smith residence.

We caught up with Granger in early November, and he told us, “It’s a mess at my house, to be honest. It’s crazy. They’re all great, but it’s a mess to have that many kids.”

Since Granger is on the road most of the time, most of the work of raising the kids falls on Amber’s shoulders.

He added, “My wife has a hard job. It’s nearly impossible. The hardest job in the world. It’s like, ‘Hey, we’re missing a kid.’ You could lose ’em.”

Here’s hoping Amber has some extended family she can call on to watch after her husband now that he’s parked at home for a bit recovering from his injuries.
