Let’s get one thing straight: we’re happy for Taylor Swift. We’re thrilled that her transition to the pop world has been so seamless, that most of her fans have followed her and that she’s looking quite cozy with her new love interest.
But did she really have to say goodbye to her banjo, and all of the other country influences that got her to where she is today? We just thought that during her current 1989 World Tour, there would be some point in the show where she did some flashbacks to her country days.
“I was very adamant that every decision I’ve made creatively in the past had to be almost flipped,” Swift recently told Rolling Stone. “You’re not going to see me playing the banjo. It’s not a country show, it’s not a multi-genre show and it’s not a mixed-influence show.”
Well, okay then.
In the same article, Swift said that the reasoning behind not pulling out the old hits was simple: she doesn’t have to. The crazy success of her current album “1989” alleviated any reason to do so.
