Is Luke Bryan really saying goodbye to a seven-year tradition? YouTube

As the calendar flips to March, college students everywhere rejoice because that means one thing — spring break.

For seven years now, Luke Bryan himself has also gone on spring break.

Up until 2015, Luke has packed his bags and headed for the beaches of Panama City, Fla. It wasn’t just that he wanted a reason to run around the beaches with a beer, he brought his band and put on a special free concert that drew hundreds of thousands of fans from every college imaginable. Then he would record and release the spring break performance as a special album.

When “The Today Show” asked him why he ended his spring break run, he said he didn’t want to be the “weird old guy.” Ever the college spirit, Luke took pride in his accomplishment.

“Somehow I was able have an excuse to be at spring break all through my ’30s,” he said.

Like everyone else, Luke had to grow up and graduate. So while there are no more spring breaks, he has replaced them with a very responsible, adult-like trip. He takes his band and a bunch of other country artists to his new “Crash My Playa” event in Mexico every January.
