Blake Shelton may have a CMA Entertainer of the Year trophy on his shelf, but he recently learned that doesn’t mean much when he’s onstage with his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani.
During a recent show in Colorado, Blake had his band work up Gwen’s hit song from when she was with her band No Doubt, “Hella Good,” and invited her to come out and sing it during his set.
“It was the worst thing I could’ve done, ’cause all it did was make me look terrible,” Blake told Chelsea Handler on her Netflix show, “Chelsea.” “Literally, 40,000 people are jumping up and down. That’s probably what it’s like at real concerts. I was like, ‘What’s going on?’ People were so excited to see her.”
The couple also performed their duet, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.” You can see it all here.
Chelsea is a personal friend of Blake and Gwen, and she revealed that Gwen has a special nickname for Blake — “Cowboy.”
At first Chelsea said she didn’t understand why Blake and Gwen got together. Then she saw the couple together. That’s when she knew it was really love between the two superstars.
Blake said of his new romance, “I try to keep it interesting for her.”
On the music front, Blake is currently climbing the country chart with his latest hit, “She’s Got a Way with Words.” It’s included on his album, “If I’m Honest,” out now.
