When Garth Brooks plays New York City, you can bet it’s always going to be over-the-top. Just look at the last time he headlined the Big Apple in 1997 and took over Central Park for a massive concert broadcast on HBO. Nearly a million people showed up for that concert, which set an attendance record for a show in Central Park.
Now, Garth is returning to NYC for the first-ever show at the current Yankee Stadium on July 9. His lovely wife, Trisha Yearwood, will be with him for the show, which comes just days after he wraps up a run of shows in Las Vegas at the brand-new T-Mobile Arena.
As always with Garth, there is a chance he’ll add even more shows at Yankee Stadium if demand is there. With tickets going for under 80 bucks, we imagine Garth will be settling in to New York City for a multi-night run.
When he’s not playing sold-out shows, Garth is busy working on his new studio album. He’s got one song, titled “He Really Loves You,” that tells the story of a man who can’t quite communicate his feelings for his wife.
Garth says of the new song, “It’s about this guy that’s in a traffic jam. He sees there’s been a wreck… and then he sees it. It’s her car. His life goes – he’s running down the side [of the road]. He gets down there… and it’s the same model, same color – everything – but it’s not hers. You just saw it. He loves you. He loves you. He can’t imagine his life [without you].”
Garth isn’t sure that song will make the final album, though. We’ll keep you posted when Garth is ready to release new music.
