We watched as they dated after her breakup with Brantley Gilbert. We gushed over their wedding pictures and the love they seemed to share. And we cherished the moments they shared with us as they got pregnant and had their adorable baby girl.

That was the question countless country music fans were asking themselves on the evening of Aug. 24, as ET exclusively confirmed that country star Jana Kramer had separated from her hubby, Mike Caussin.

According to the report, “Caussin is currently being treated in a rehabilitation center for undisclosed reasons.”

“(Jana has been) trying to put on a brave face and do what’s best for her daughter,” a close friend of Jana’s told ET. “She’s been devastated by this.”

The timing of the separation is especially bittersweet, especially in light of the subject matter of her current single, “Circles.”

“’Circles’ has become such a personal song to me about love that’s just so deep and unbreakable,” said Jana in a recent press release. “The lyrics talk about piecing together a broken heart and at the time, when I first heard the demo, that’s what I wanted to find. It was the hopeful song for my album. The funny thing is I had just started talking to my now husband, and I wondered if maybe this would end up being about him. Now it’s my song for him on the album to say no matter what, we’re doing this, it’s you and me. That the ring he gave me is not just a ring, but means so much more. He has truly pieced together broken parts.”
