Eric Church dishes about who he is rooting for at this year’s Grammys — and what song he describes as “hooky as hell”

Come February 8, Grammy nominee Eric Church will be sitting in the good seats at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, waiting with bated breath to see if he might just get to take home one of those shiny trophies amongst his four nominations including Country Song of the Year for “Give Me Back My Hometown” and Country Album of the Year for “The Outsiders.”

Yet once the country music awards are through, he may just stick around to see if Taylor Swift wins.

In the February 12 issue of Rolling Stone, Church was asked for some of his GRAMMY picks in categories such as Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Best New Artist. And he seemed to stay true to his country roots.

“I can’t see anything other than Taylor,” Church replied when asked to predict the winner for “Record of the Year” in which Swift is nominated for her record-smashing single “Shake It Off.” “’All About That Bass’ was a big record, (but) Taylor stands far above the rest. ‘Shake It Off’ is just hooky as hell.”

Church also gave props to Best New Artist nominee and country favorite Brandy Clark.

“I’m so stoked that (Clark) was nominated and I hope it sends more people her way, because she is phenomenal.”
