If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Chris Stapleton should feel pretty flattered right about now.

It’s not easy to sing a Chris Stapleton song. It takes a lot of strong vocals and more than a little courage, but “My Church” singer Maren Morris and Brothers Osborne gave it their best shot.

At the Association of Independent Music Publishers Awards, an event designed to honor independent songs, songwriters and publishers, the three combined to give Stapleton’s “Fire Away” a whirl from the stage. And frankly, they did a great job.

Of course they gave it their own spin, but between Maren’s sultry tinge, TJ Osborne’s lower register and John Osborne on the guitar, the trio pulled off what many would have even be too scared to attempt.

While the performance itself is pretty mesmerizing, it also reveals so much more than meets the eye. It shows that between Chris, Maren and Brothers Osborne, we can rest easy, because the future of country music is in safe hands.
