Chances are that when country music fans first watched the NBC made-for-TV movie “Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors,” they were touched most by the relationship between the character of Dolly and her mother.
That’s why it seems perfectly logical that the DVD release is going to come just in time for Mother’s Day gift giving. Set for release Tuesday, May 3, the movie tells the story of Dolly’s childhood in rural Tennessee — and created quite a stir when the initial broadcast broke ratings records.
“It is my true belief that if you’re lucky enough to have a good mother, that is the greatest gift that you will ever know,” said Dolly in a recent press release. “So many people responded to my Mother in the ‘Coat of Many Colors’ movie not only because of the wonderful job that Jennifer Nettles did portraying her, but the love and attention that Mama gave to all of her children.”
Already watched the movie? Have no fear. The new DVD is said to include a number of new features, including deleted scenes, extra content and even an alternate version of the movie.
