Dierks Bentley has always been a “what you see is what you get” kind of guy. But what the country superstar has been hiding might just be the most intriguing development in 2016 thus far.

On Jan. 11, Bentley announced in a press release that he is currently planning to show off his “mysterious and sexy” side with a brand new record that is said have some of the most personal songs he has ever released. The record, which will be titled “Black,” will be released during the early part of 2016.

“It’s a relationship album,” Bentley said in the press release. “And to do it right, I had to dig deep as a writer, dig into the Nashville songwriting community, and record songs that explore the shadows and edges of the heart. The songs on ‘Black’ range from the lonesomeness of an impossible relationship to ones that describe the feeling of finding that person that makes you forget the one that broke your heart.”

Bentley’s wife also played a large role in the new record.

“Black is my wife’s maiden name,” he continued, referring to his wife of 10 years, Cassidy. “Black is mysterious and sexy and has an edge that describes the sounds we were going for. A lot of it happens after dark, in the black of night.”

This year will definitely be a busy one for Bentley, who will also be co-hosting the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday, April 3, with Luke Bryan.
