Pregnancy is such a glorious time for expectant moms. Well, usually it’s a glorious time.
Even though most moms are thrilled to be blessed with the gift of bringing new life into the world, the actual journey to grow and get that new life here is full of strange food cravings, anatomical oddities and just weird stuff that can come out of nowhere and afflict your body (acid reflux and swollen ankles, anyone?).
And sometimes, you just need to talk about those things and be brutally honest with folks.
Amy Earnhardt’s latest pregnancy update isn’t a sweet, touching photo of her cradling her baby bump. (We love those, don’t get us wrong.) Rather, for the wife of NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt Jr., it’s more of a real world, real talk update about one of the strangest phenomenons of pregnancy: the whole belly button thing.
Yeah, it’s strange, and we don’t really know how to describe it. What Amy is referring to is the moment your “innie” belly button becomes an “outie.”
This apparently doesn’t happen to every expectant mom, but for many it does. And if you have any kind of belly button phobia whatsoever, it’s a pretty trippy experience.
Well, this not-so-glorious moment just happened for sweet Amy, and she chose to share that information with the world.
She tweeted, “My belly button popped out today. Belly buttons are weird …Now my acute awareness of mine has me wigged out. #notouchzone #turkeysnotdone”
We’re trying so hard not to laugh, because it’s cute and sweet. But at the same time, it’s pretty funny.
Even Dale Jr is freaked out.
“I looked and can confirm this is true,” he hilariously tweeted in response to Amy’s post.
Bless their hearts, first-time parenting is the sweetest.
These two have been having a good time so far with this pregnancy, peppering every uncomfortable moment or update with as much humor as possible.
On Jan. 11, Dale Jr. shared the news on his Twitter page that their baby girl is now 24 weeks, and the size of an ear of corn.
“Ear of corn” sounds funny to me these days. So old timey,” he captioned the post.
They’ve been using this baby to produce comparison tracker throughout Amy’s pregnancy, and it’s a cute and funny way to keep track of the baby’s growth.
We know these two are so excited and ready to meet baby girl Earnhardt. Amy is expected to deliver at the end of April or the first week of May. And we can’t wait to see what they name her!
Now that Junior has retired from racing, he’ll have plenty of time to spend with his girls, and we can only hope he’ll share as many pictures as possible.
In the meantime, we hope they keep updating us on their pregnancy journey.
