One of them was asleep.
One of them was wide-awake.
But both Chris Young and Cassadee Pope knew just what they had to do when they found out that their megahit duet, “Think of You,” had been nominated for a CMA Award for musical event of the year.
Indeed, Chris confirms that he was sleeping on the morning of Aug. 31 as CMA Awards nominations were announced from the stage of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. “Waking up to a CMA Award nomination does not suck,” laughs Chris. “We definitely had our fingers crossed because the song has done really well, but you just never know about award shows… until you know.”
The announcement turned out to be quite the family affair with both Cassadee and Chris being able to share it with their families.
“I’ve been able to spend a few days off in Western Pennsylvania with family, so I was actually in the car with my family on my way to the airport when I got the news,” explains Cassadee.
Chris also tells Rare Country that he was able to share the news with his loved ones, with his sister being one of the first to text him a congratulatory message.
“It’s just been amazing to watch this song and its success,” Cassadee continues. “And the cool thing now is that it will be eligible for all the award shows next year. I’m just super grateful.”
