Maybe you were pulling for the Philadelphia Eagles, or maybe the New England Patriots were your team. Maybe you were just in it for the nachos and chicken wings. Or maybe you just wanted the television on so you wouldn’t miss a second of “This Is Us,” which aired after the big game. But if you weren’t watching, or had your TV set on something other than NBC on Feb. 4, you may have been in the minority. Most of America, including country artists like Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, and Rodney Atkins, were watching the Super Bowl.
And other stars, including like Blake Shelton, Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris, were actually in Minnesota watching the game live, or enjoying the halftime show at least, and they took us along through social media.
Kelsea and her new husband, Morgan Evans, spent the weekend in Minneapolis where they got the chance to enjoy a special performance from Jennifer Lopez as part of the pre-game festivities.
As much as Kelsea implies that she isn’t a big football fan, it looks like by the end of the game, she had come around.
And heck, she got to meet “This Is Us” star Mandy Moore at a tailgate party.
Maren and her future husband, Ryan Hurd, also enjoyed killer seats at the game and the Justin Timberlake halftime show, but even if they had gotten bored, they had each other to occupy their time.
Some of country music’s biggest football fans were actually watching at home instead of in the U.S. Bank Stadium, but it gave them a good opportunity to get their little ones started early on learning the game and becoming the football fans their daddies are.
Justin Moore’s little roly-poly, South, could be a future cornerback or maybe a defensive end.
Jude, the baby boy of the Cadillac Three’s Jaren Johnson, looks like he has the attention to be a running back.
And it looks like Rodney Atkins and Rose Falcon’s baby boy, Ryder, knows a thing or two about having safe hands, so he’d make an excellent receiver.
Now, Jason Aldean and wife Brittany invited a few of their friends over to watch the Eagles and the Pats face off, but it may have been the halftime show by Justin Timberlake that really got everyone’s attention and approval! Jason posted a bit of video on his Instagram page and wrote, “Classy and well done, Justin Timberlake. Great job man.”
Dee Jay Silver’s son Wake, the bestie of Jason’s son, Memphis, was utterly enthralled with Justin’s performance.
But the reality is, Darius Rucker likely had the best vantage point. Darius was part of the Super Bowl Tailgate Party, providing pre-game entertainment. You can see some of his performance in the post below.
If you didn’t watch the game, you missed a good one. The teams were pretty evenly matched, resulting in a real nail-biter that ended with the Eagles winning their first Super Bowl with a score of 41 to 33.
Of course, the other things worth watching were the great commercials. There seemed to be a definite theme among most of them, promoting messages of positivity, unity and peace, but there were also a few downright silly ones, including a play on “Dirty Dancing” with Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. playing the lead roles.
OK … just one more time …
Now, do we dare even discuss “This Is Us?
