Country artists step away from the spotlight for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it’s a matter of health and sometimes the pace of it all is more than they expected, so they simply step back to process it all. And sometimes it’s because they put family first. Garth Brooks did it. In fact, he retired for about eight years while his daughters were young and only did occasional performances after that until his youngest girl graduated high school. We sure missed him, and we’re glad he’s back.

Now, we’re excited to see that another country star is coming back after spending a little time at home to raise her young daughter.

Yep, the original “Redneck Woman,” Gretchen Wilson, is back with a new single, titled “Rowdy,” which is set to hit radio on Nov. 4. And a whole album will follow early next year.

In a press release, Gretchen explains her absence saying, “As a single mom, I knew I could never get the time back with my daughter if I continued the pace I was on. Grace is really talented and very involved in school, and I didn’t want to miss anything, so I just put everything on hold.”

Well, she kinda put everything on hold anyway. In the past two years she’s actually put pen to paper to write songs for her new collection — her first since 2013.

Oh, and one more thing, get ready for Gretchen to hit the road in 2017 to showcase her great catalog of hits and her new music, too.
