Country music superstar Luke Bryan opens up to Ellen about life after tragedy

Behind the smile, there is still pain.

But on the May 19 episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” country music superstar Luke Bryan still found a way to smile about the recent death of his brother-in-law, and the decision Bryan and his wife made to bring their 13-year-old nephew into their home.

“We obviously had a very interesting time a few months back, and I was able to take in my nephew,” explained Bryan, who already has a 7-year-old and 4-year-old son at home. “You can kind of control a 7-year-old…you are not fooling a 13-year-old! But we love it.”

Bryan mentioned that the new family structure is keeping his wife busy running the boys around to various sports and such. But one look into Bryan’s eyes lets everyone know that he and his wife wouldn’t want it any other way.

“We feel honored that we are so blessed to be able to take him in,” Bryan said.

Bryan also announced on the show that his new album “Kill the Lights” will be released on August 7, featuring his current hit “Kick the Dust up.” “We’ve been performing the new song on tour this spring, using it to open the shows,” shared Luke. “We love the crowd reaction to it and I cannot wait to be able to share more new music this summer.  It’s been two years since we’ve had a new album and I don’t think I’ve been this eager yet to get it out to the fans.”
