Country megastar Toby Keith takes a stand on the sickening Charleston shootings

The country is crying — even tough guys like country star Toby Keith.

Tragedies have a way of doing that.

The recent shooting in Charleston, which left nine innocent souls dead, has indeed rocked the nation, leaving many to think about what needs to be done to avoid these awful circumstances in the future.

Shortly before being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York City on June 18, Keith made his feelings known about the tragedy.

“I don’t know man…there is no answers,” said Keith, who performed as part of the star-studded dinner and ceremony. “There are countries all over the world that have really strict gun policies and it happens there too. If it can happen at church, it can happen anywhere.”

Keith continued on, thinking aloud about if the mass shooting could have been avoided if there had been an officer there that could have gunned down the gunman before he was able to take anymore innocent lives.

“You can’t predict when evil is going to show up,” he said. “If there had been an officer there with a pistol, some of those people would still be alive. Sometimes there is a good shooting dog around when the wolf shows up.”
