For those of you who’ve heard of country newcomer William Michael Morgan, brace yourself.
This just might be the saddest thing you’ve heard all day.
On March 30, the 22-year-old singer announced that he lost his “mammaw.” William took to Facebook to reveal the tragic news.
“Today has been a very stressful day,” he said. “My Mammaw just passed away and I’m awaiting some other news … Please pray for my family.”
He then added, “In almost 23 years I’ve never seen my father cry anything but happy tears.”
While a slew of fans have already shared their support for the singer’s heartbreaking loss by offering their condolences on social media, we can only imagine the pain and suffering that William is now going through.
If there’s any shred of a silver lining at all to this story, William’s self-titled EP — which includes six songs — has made its way to Walmart’s shelves and is available for download on iTunes. This success happened just days before his mammaw’s passing.
One song on the record, “I Met a Girl,” was written by lauded writers, Trevor Rosen, Shane McAnally and country star Sam Hunt. Watch the country gem’s ode to a woman above.
