With a cancer diagnosis that could make even the strongest person give in to sadness and desperation, leave it to Joey+Rory to find a way to look at the bright side of things.

One of the brightest sides of their journey together was around the time they were just newlyweds in pursuit of a career in country music. Around that time, the two appeared in a series of Overstock.com commercials, showing off a bit of their love story to viewers. In his blog post on Oct. 31, Rory Feek reminisced about these sweeter times.

“This was one of the Overstock.com commercials we did in 2008 as part of a national TV ad campaign that they were running.  Oh how beautiful and full of life my sweet bride was then.   We had only been married a few years and had no idea what was ahead of us – the heights we would ascend to, and the valleys we would have to cross.”

In the same Oct. 31 blog post, Rory also shared details of a special prayer vigil coming up later this week during the evening of Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. CST.

“Joey’s sisters and her best-friend Julie have chosen a special time for people to say a prayer with us for Joey. You can call it a prayer vigil, or a moment of silence, or what it actually is… a husband asking for help for the woman he loves.”
