Congratulations to another country music couple and first-time mom Instagram/@RodneyAtkins

In a year that has been riddled with tragedy and loss, it has also been a year of celebration in country music where we have found ourselves saying the word “congratulations” over and over. And we’re saying it again as we congratulate Rodney Atkins and wife Rose Falcon Atkins on the birth of their baby boy.

Rod and Rose, who were married four years ago, welcomed their son, Ryder Falcon Atkins, on Dec. 14 at 2:02 p.m. He weighed a healthy 8 lbs., 13 oz and measured 20 inches long.

This is the couple’s first child together. However, Rodney has a teenage son, Elijah, from a previous marriage. In August, Rose confirmed on Instagram that she had, sadly, lost a baby previously, according to “People.”

The “If You’re Going Through Hell” singer shared the big news with “People” and said, “Falcon is Rose’s maiden name, and I really wanted to honor her dad and her 96-year-old grandpa. I always loved the name Ry, and Rose came up with Ryder — Ryder Falcon!”

What a year for Nashville’s population to get a bump thanks to country music. It started with Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman and her husband, Stephen, who adopted baby girl Dolly in January. Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney and his wife, Hannah, also welcomed their precious little butterball, Asher, in January.

After that, the floodgates were opened, and for Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren, that meant doubling down on their family size. The couple adopted precious Willa Gray at around the same time they discovered they were pregnant with little Ada James.

RELATEDThe race is on for the last few country music babies of 2017

We’re looking forward to seeing what 2018 brings in the way of brides and babies. We already know that Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott and her husband, Chris Tyrrell, and Chris Stapleton and his wife, Morgane, will each be adding a set of twins to their respective families. But after a healthy handful of weddings in 2017, including Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans, and Kacey Musgraves and Ruston Kelly, we’ll be finding out if those couples will be starting families soon or waiting a little while before they add babies to the mix.

There were also a few proposals that took place, including Scotty McCreery and his now-fiancée, Gabi Dugal, and we’re hoping to see those weddings in the new year.

For now, though, we’re just admiring baby Ryder and wishing Rodney and Rose all the best with their new little one.
